Privacy Policy for Minors
This policy is written for you and for your parent or guardian. We have written it in simple language so you can understand it easily.
This policy is written for you and for your parent or guardian. We have written it in simple language so you can understand it easily. There is also a general Privacy Policy for adult users.
1. Who are we?
We are NutQuest, a Spanish company that has built an app so you can learn while playing. We use artificial intelligence (like a very clever robot) to turn your notes and materials into games, exercises, study cards and podcasts.
This policy explains what information we collect about you, what we use it for, who we share it with and what rights you and your parent or guardian (“Legal Guardian”) have.
2. Do I need my parents’ permission?
Yes. If you are under the age set by the law in your country for making decisions about your own data (for example, under 14 in Spain), you need your Legal Guardian to give us permission before you can use NutQuest. We will send them an email with a link to authorise this.
If you are in the United States and under 13, you can only use NutQuest through your school (Enterprise plan) — you cannot sign up directly.
3. What information do we collect?
What you give us when you sign up
- Your email address (or the one linked to your Google or Apple account).
- Your date of birth (so we know you are a minor and can activate the special protections).
- An alias — a made-up name for the game. We recommend you do not use your real name.
- Your Legal Guardian’s email address (stored separately, used only to request their permission).
What is created when you play
- Your progress: which levels you have completed, your correct answers, your streak, your league position and your achievements.
- Your in-game coins and items (avatars, frames, boosters).
- Your friends list and any multiplayer games you play.
- The conversations you have with Ratatoskr (the in-game tutor).
What the app collects automatically
- Whether your device is an iPhone or an Android.
- A special code to send you in-game notifications.
Material you upload to create Worlds
If you upload a PDF, images or write text to create a World, that material is only used at the moment of creation and is then deleted forever. We do not keep it.
4. What do we use your information for?
- So you can play, create Worlds, talk to Ratatoskr and take part in leagues and multiplayer.
- To save your progress and achievements.
- To send you in-game notifications (for example, when someone challenges you to a game).
- To keep the game safe: we have filters that block harmful content and a team that reviews reports.
5. What do we NOT do with your information?
- We do NOT show you personalised advertising. If you see ads, they are the same for all minors and are not based on what you do.
- We do NOT build a commercial profile about you or analyse your behaviour to sell you things.
- We do NOT sell your data to anyone.
- There is no chat or messaging between players. No one can write to you inside the game. In multiplayer, only your alias, avatar and basic statistics are visible.
- We do NOT send you behaviour-based notifications. Notifications are the same for all minors.
- We do NOT keep your original material (the PDFs, images or text you upload). It is deleted as soon as the World is created.
6. Who do we share your information with?
To make the game work, we share some data with companies that help us:
- Artificial intelligence companies (Google Gemini, Mistral, Groq and Fireworks): to create the exercises, podcasts and Ratatoskr’s answers. We only send what is necessary during World creation, and they have a contract that prohibits them from using your data for anything else.
- Google AdMob: helps us show ads. But for minors, the ads are not personalised.
- Google Cloud: where we store game data on servers located in Madrid (within the European Union).
- Firebase (Google): to send you in-game notifications.
We do not share your information with anyone else, unless required by law (for example, if a public authority requests it).
7. Special protections for you
Because you are a minor, NutQuest activates special protections on your account:
- Ratatoskr only speaks to you in her friendly version (no sarcasm).
- The conversational Tutor is only available if your Legal Guardian has authorised it, and is subject to usage limits.
- Your account privacy settings are set to the most restrictive option by default.
- Any ads you see are contextual, not personalised.
- If you want to buy something with real money (Premium Plan or Virtual Currency), your Legal Guardian must authorise it first. Spending coins you have already earned by playing does not require permission.
- If content that could be harmful to minors is detected, it is removed immediately, the responsible account is blocked and, if necessary, the authorities are notified.
8. How long do we keep your information?
- Original material (PDFs, images, text): deleted forever as soon as the World is created.
- Account data and progress: while your account is open.
- Conversations with Ratatoskr: while your account is active. Your Legal Guardian can request deletion at any time.
- If the account is closed (or your Legal Guardian closes it), everything is deleted.
- If you have not signed in for 24 months, we will notify you before deleting your account.
9. About anonymised data
If you use NutQuest on the free plan, the exercises, cards and statistics the app generates (not your personal ones, but what the robot creates) may be stored anonymously — in a way that makes it impossible to know they were yours — to improve the service in the future. This is only done if it is impossible to identify you; if that cannot be guaranteed, the data is not kept. If your account is Premium or Enterprise, none of this is stored.
10. Rights of your Legal Guardian and yourself
Your Legal Guardian has the right to:
- Find out what data we hold about you and request a copy.
- Ask us to correct data that is wrong.
- Ask us to delete all your data (or close your account directly).
- Ask us to stop using your data for a specific purpose.
- Withdraw the permission they gave us at any time.
- Delete the history of your conversations with Ratatoskr.
To exercise these rights, your Legal Guardian can write to us at legal@nutquest.app. We will respond within one month at most.
If they believe we are not handling your data correctly, they can lodge a complaint with the Spanish Data Protection Authority (AEPD) or the data protection authority in their country.
11. Users in the United States (COPPA)
If you are in the United States and under 13, you can only use NutQuest through your school (Enterprise plan), not through the direct consumer sign-up. If you are the parent or guardian of a child under 13 in the US and believe we have collected data about your child without proper authorisation, please contact legal@nutquest.app immediately.
12. Changes to this policy
If we change anything important, we will communicate it through the app and, if necessary, by email to the Legal Guardian.
